Kelsy McAnelly made five saves in the second half with one ONU shot hitting the upper right corner of the goal and another hitting the crossbar square. Scranton dodged multiple bullets in the final four minutes of regulation to get to overtime.
Scranton has 7 shots while ONU has 12. McAnelly has five saves while to ONU goalie has four. ONU has a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
We’ll play two sudden-death 10-minute OT periods. If we’re still tied at that point, we’ll go to penalty kicks.
10:00 OT: Scranton will start with possession and the wind in its face.
8:37 OT: Hextall plays a ball to Parker at the top of the box, but her shot sails just over the upper left corner of the goal.
6:27 OT: Russo’s shot from 19 yards out on the right side sails well wide.
5:22: ONU goal. A great pass over the top of the Scranton defense to the far post to an ONU forward, whose shot from five yards out goes cleanly into the goal.
McAnelly really had very little chance. The shot had plenty of power and was only about five yards out. It was a great play by ONU for the goal and an unfortunate end to Scranton’s season.
I have to get caught up with the team and write our story for the website. I’ll check back in a little later.
